Hello bunnies! Here we are on the brink of another New Year’s Eve and since I am constitutionally incapable of resisting infographs, lists and any other method of quickly digestible information I felt that I just HAD to do a full recap. So here it is. My year of projects. Unless you have super spy vision you will likely need to click to see all the marvelous detail…

Ahhhh… whatayear, right? The first part of MY 2011 was heavily influenced by two separate, yet equal, forces. First, I was still working at the shop, so my primary fabrics were quilt weight cotton and voiles – things that we sold at the shop. Second, I was building up a wardrobe that reflected what I really LIKE, as well as a wardrobe that worked for my new non-corporate lifestyle. Goodbye suits, hello hot pink cotton!

In August I headed back to the workplace and by September had severed all ties with the shop and felt free to return to my real loves… wool, knitting, sweater knits. Classic styles that are best done with garment fabrics, not quilt fabrics. Plus, I really do have a soft spot in my heart for restyles. I was actually eyeing up a few of my crew neck cashmere t’s today, thinking to myself “I really DO like a lower neckline…” But that’s another post…

The fall was taken up with making some work clothes, and starting on house projects (hello quilt) and all of December was gift-city.

So what’s the tally? Oh, I’m so glad you asked…

Obviously, I love me some dresses.

And with that, happy new year!

I’m always thinking that my pattern corrections could be better as well. It just takes doing over and over and over… and then it’s different when you work with a new fabric! Here’s to a new year and fun projects!

Whooooooaa! I love how in your “about” section, you describe your blog as “a little bit of sewing…” Seventy-nine sewn items is way more than a little bit! Way to go.

  6. K-Line says:

That’s fucking high on drugs, honey. I cannot believe you’ve sewn 79 things. That is so productive it scares me. I continue to love your blog. It is so utterly pretty, just like you.

Wait a minute, it actually must be more than that because you made like 15 aprons for Happy Apple Day!

    • Patty says:

As discussed :-) I only really counted PROJECTS, not items – so the happy apple day aprons count as ONE, even though I made, um, 10 or so. And I didn’t really include anything that I made for sale on Etsy and some shop projects… and ONLY YOU would catch this detail :-)

    • Patty says:

Well….. a bunch of the 79 were actually fun stuff projects – you know, accessories, quilts and such…

I’m not sure if I have any energy left to channel! Tee hee. Except I really, REALLY need some short wool skirts to tide me over ’till spring!!

  15. Corinne says:

what a great year you have had. your post is fabulous, the little clothing icons remind me of the famous “Colorforms” popular in the 50’s. They were pieces of heavy gauge plastic (in various colors) in the shapes of clothing that you placed on cardboard fashion figures to build little wardrobes. Sort of like cut-out dolls but with multiple design possibilities. Happy New Year to you and yours.

    • Patty says:

That reminds me of a toy that I had when I was younger – they were basically plastic paper dolls – two dimensional with different dresses. I remember I liked to chew on the clothes – does anyone remember what I’m talking about? From the late 70’s?

  16. Very impressive! What size is your wardrobe? Did I miss the tour? :-) I am big fan of yours – Keep up great blogging! And Happy New Year, of course!

    • Patty says:

Well, I DO have a large wardrobe, but I also give away a lot of things. Many of the things I’ve made this year are already with friends or donated. If I don’t love it and wear it all the time it’s out the door.

My one weakness is cardigans. I just went and counted and I have 28! Pretty soon Mr. Bug and I are going to be forced to start looking for one of those giant suburban homes just to house my cardigan collection (and Lucy’s tennis ball hoard…)

Fantastic year! You’ve been so inspirational – congrats on all your successes.

    • Patty says:

YOU’re the inspirational one! I love your 2012 list – undies and doggie clothes! And I’m intrigued by the cashmere sweater knit. I’ve never seen cashmere by the yard and would totally buy it if I came across it. Even in pukey colors…

I’m obsessed with infograms (not surprising since my day job is graphic designy!!) There are tons of websites and even apps to get infographic ideas, but I used both illustrator and photoshop to make it!
